This paper seeks to better understand the many dimensions of food security and access in the urban center of Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. The following sections will provide an overview of the local demographics and then analyze the food environment using GIS maps. The paper will conclude with a discussion of how Raleigh-Durham fits into, or exists separately from, traditional food security narratives.
